With bags, brand actually means something
On gloves, brand is mostly a tiebreaker — you can read the strap length and the foam layers off any spec sheet. Bags are different, because the single thing that decides whether a bag is still good in three years is what is inside it, and you cannot inspect that. Fill is a brand-level decision, and brands are remarkably consistent about it. That makes the brand a genuinely useful proxy.
The failure mode to understand before anything else: fiber-and-sand fills compact under their own weight, the densest material migrates to the bottom, and within a year or two the lower third of the bag — exactly where your shins and body shots land — is effectively a brick. Brands solve this, ignore it, or route around it, and that is the axis this page is really about.

The four fill types, and which brands use them
- Fabric only. Shredded textile with no sand. Never sets hard, stays even top to bottom, and needs more volume to reach a given weight. Outslayer state this outright; Combat Corner sell it loose.
- Shredded textile with a little sand. The gym standard — Ringside's soft-filled line, and what most good pre-filled bags contain. Slight settling over years, generally acceptable.
- Fiber with a foam liner. A reinforced foam layer over the core so the shell keeps its shape even as the fill moves. Century's Creed line does this and it is the cleanest engineering answer.
- Water. Cannot settle, cannot go hard, gives under a strike. Aqua built a whole brand on it. It also ships light and fills at home, which solves the freight problem.

Which brands are worth paying more for
Worth it: Outslayer, if you will own the bag for a decade and especially if you kick — the fabric-only fill plus a published 10-year warranty is a real, checkable commitment nobody else at that price makes. Century's Creed line, if you want a long bag that stays evenly firm. Aqua, if your hands or shins are the limiting factor rather than your budget.
Not worth it: paying up within Everlast's range for a nicer shell color. Everlast's value is availability and bundles — buy their cheapest bag that hits your weight, or a bundle that includes the hanger you were going to buy anyway, and spend the difference on the mount. See bags under $100.

What we are not telling you
Which brand's seams last longest, because that needs years of use on units we do not own. Which has the best warranty service, because that needs a claim sample size no affiliate site has. Anyone ranking bag brands on “durability” from a desk is guessing. What we can tell you is which brands publish their fill, their dimensions and their warranty terms — and on this particular product, that correlates with quality more than it does on most.
